Cambodia is a nation with more than 90% of the population practising Buddhism. Even with the reformation of the government for religious freedom, including Christianity, there remained many barriers to proclaiming the name of Jesus.
In 1990, a breakthrough came for the church, when permission was given by the government to spread the gospel. The growth of Christian population has increased gradually. Nevertheless, a lot of difficult ploughing is needed.
Since 1993, the Diocese of Singapore began to plant churches in Cambodia. The international and Khmer congregations have grown to 5 congregations and 7 preaching points in Phnom Penh, and 5 rural provinces at our weekly worship.
We will continue to partner with Cambodia to disciple church members, to build strong communities and to serve and support the village churches.
